Wall art for kitchens and home bars: choosing a design, size and LED effect

Published · Updated

Paveikslai virtuvei ir namų barui: kaip derinti motyvą, dydį ir LED?

A wall beside the dining table, above a sideboard or near a drinks cabinet can be the perfect spot for one expressive piece of art. Choosing a favourite cocktail is only the start: consider the dimensions, surrounding colours and details that light up when the LEDs are on.

Start with a specific wall, choose a format and then compare designs. This makes it easier to decide between a compact martini composition and a taller picture that stands out from across the room.

Where should kitchen or dining room wall art go?

Consider three locations first: beside the dining table, above a sideboard and in a home bar corner. Each gives you a different viewing distance. At the table you will see the picture while seated; near a drinks cabinet you may also see the whole composition from across the room.

Choose a drier location and check the instructions for the specific model. A product photo alone does not confirm suitability beside water, steam or heat sources. Plan the power connection so the cable does not cross a worktop or walkway.

Choosing a design and colour palette

A citrus cocktail can echo orange, pink or green accents in the room. A martini glass makes the home bar theme more explicit. Lime with a purple background offers a different colour pairing.

You do not need to match every shade. Pick one colour in the picture and look for it in a chair, textile, dish or another visible object. In an already colourful room, leave more clear wall around the artwork so it stays distinct from other patterns.

Four cocktail pictures: designs and sizes compared

All four models are portrait format. Dimensions are given as width × height; check them again on the chosen product page before ordering.

ModelDesign and coloursWidth × height
Aperol Spritz – citrus cocktailCitrus design; LEDs highlight the glass and garnish53 × 73 cm
Two Martinis PleaseMartini glass, pink background, chequered pattern and golden-yellow LEDs53 × 73 cm
Happy Hour – lime cocktailLime design with a purple background63 × 83 cm
Golden PourMartini glass, blue drink, green olives and a golden-yellow LED outline63 × 93 cm

53 × 73, 63 × 83 or 63 × 93 cm?

At 53 × 73 cm, Aperol Spritz and Two Martinis Please are 10 cm narrower and shorter than the 63 × 83 cm Happy Hour. Golden Pour has the same width as Happy Hour but is another 10 cm taller. Two pictures that are both 63 cm wide can therefore look different on the same wall.

  1. Measure the available wall area, allowing for shelves, switches and furniture edges.
  2. Make paper templates of two sizes you are considering and place each in the planned spot.
  3. Compare the view while seated at the table and from the other side of the room.
  4. Photograph the whole wall with the furniture. Judge the picture in relation to the room, rather than viewing only the template close up.

How to combine LED wall art with existing lighting

Choose a picture you also enjoy with the LEDs switched off. Print colours dominate in daylight, while the lighting brings out selected details in the evening. Golden Pour traces the outline of the glass, so compare its evening effect with the other lights visible in the room.

Check for glossy surfaces opposite the picture that could create unwanted reflections. Plan the artwork as a decorative accent and assess work area lighting separately. Check power, controls and included accessories in the specific product description. Read more in our LED wall art buying guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does kitchen art need a food or drink design?

No. A cocktail design connects a picture with a dining or bar corner, but what matters most is that you enjoy the image and it suits the chosen spot. Consider the room as a whole.

Can several pictures hang together?

Yes, if their combined width, including gaps, fits the available area. Make a template for the whole group first. Sharing one dimension does not mean the pictures have the same proportions.

Do LED pictures of the same size light up in the same way?

No. The illuminated details and LED colours vary. Compare the photos and description of each model, treating size and lighting effect as two separate choices.
